![]() Lymph nodes connect your lymphatic system, which moves fluid through your lymph nodes. They are located in the back of the head at the lateral border of the trapezius muscle and collect lymph from the occipital area of the scalp. There are hundreds of lymph nodes in your body that gather at where two or more lymphatic channels come together, in your neck, armpits and groin. When the body is fighting an infection, they may swell. You may then develop swollen lymph glands in various parts of the body such as the neck, armpit and groins. Occipital: There are usually between 1-3 occipital lymph nodes. The occipital lymph nodes are tiny glands in the back of the head.
